Driven by his secret love for Cloud, a sweet and shy kid with whom he had started a playful flirtation with prior to the catastrophe, Zack escapes the rebuilt and reprogrammed town of Nibelheim by any means necessary. Heading towards the cold and lonely mountains, wounded, hungry, and running out of options, Zack seeks shelter in a large cave full of long and winding passages. Eager to escape the ShinRa, and secure a place where he can tend to a comatose Cloud, Zack ventures further under the earth, carrying Cloud with him. What he doesn't know is that every step takes them closer and closer to a different world, a memory of the past and an entirely different destiny.
